Abstract : Determining the stem volume of a tree, both a standing or felled tree, has long been a chronic problem for foresters, whereas, an accurate estimate of wood volume is important in the management of forest. In this article, some tree dimensions i.e. stem diameter, tree height and stem form factor, which decisive to stem volume, will be described. The development of tree volume estimation, from the conventional method to the modern method (centroid volume formula), will be described as well.
